Aaron is a finance/banking consultant and has over 15 years legal experience having spent the early part of his career and training at Mayer Brown in both London and New York, working across a variety of finance transactions but with a particular focus on structured finance instructions such as securitisations, receivables-based lending, capital markets and derivatives. After moving to Dublin in 2012, Aaron primarily focused on the financing and leasing of aviation assets but also continues to advise on structured finance, capital markets and derivative transactions for both domestic and international clients across a range of industries. In 2014 he was made a partner at Walkers before subsequently moving to Maples & Calder in 2017 and then founding his own firm, McGarry Holtham which started operating in May 2019.
A graduate of Trinity College Dublin he is a contributing author to a number of derivative publications including, “Equity Derivatives: Documenting and understanding equity derivative products”, (Globe Business Publishing, March 2009), “Commodity Derivatives: Documenting and understanding commodity derivative products” (Globe Business Publishing, September 2010) and has been a regular lecturer in derivatives at the Law Society of Ireland over recent years for their diploma courses.
- PDP (pre-delivery payments) financing for $88m to fund payments due on one A330 and four A321 aircraft
- The purchase of the outstanding notes issued by an aircraft ABS transaction including re-structuring the original ABS transaction and swapping in and out of certain aircraft assets
- Advising on the private issue of $950m of unsecured 4.5% notes due 2023 and $300m of unsecured 3.625% notes due 2021 for a client with both tranches listed on the Irish exchange
- Negotiating a derivatives package for various investment funds which included ISDA Master Agreements and CSAs with various international banks and of their obligations under EMIR and SFTR regulations
