The Employment Team at Ogier Leman have prepared an at a glance factsheet for employers when dealing with annual leave queries. Annual leave can be one of the most precious entitlements an employee has and employers must be familiar with annual leave requirements. It is likely that following the enacting of the Workplace Relations Bill that employees in both the public and private sector will accrue annual leave while on sick leave for up to 15 months after the initial leave year in which they fall sick. Employers should check their policies and contracts and considering amend them to ensure any accruals while on sick leave only apply to the statutory minimums.
