Brian is a Senior Associate on Leman Solicitors’ Litigation and Dispute Resolution, Team. He is a registered trademark agent and specialises in both contentious and non-contentious intellectual property matters. Brian originally trained and worked in McCann FitzGerald Solicitors in the commercial litigation department. He has featured on Bloomberg and Business Insider in respect of his high-profile trademark investigations and is a regular contributor on national radio and print media in relation to intellectual property matters. Brian advises clients in relation to all aspects of media law, including brand protection, domain dispute resolutions, copyright protection, and enforcement. More generally, Brian also advises a wide range of corporate and commercial clients on contractual disputes and general commercial litigation. Brian has a broad range of experience in contentious High Court litigation and represents clients before the Commercial Division of the High Court and the Court of Appeal.
Brian is a Bachelor of Law and LLB graduate of the University of Dublin, Trinity College. He is a registered trademark agent and was awarded a Diploma in Data Protection Practice from the Law Society of Ireland.
Recent Work
- Advising, representing and advocating on behalf of clients before the UK Intellectual Property Office on appeal from a decision of the Adjudicating Officer;
- Submitting a detailed opposition on novel grounds against an application for registration of a trademark before the European Intellectual Property Office;
- Successfully advising a client and settling at an early stage an infringement of the client’s rights under the law of passing off; and
- Representing a number of Revenue Appointed liquidators in relation to applications for disqualification of Directors, and securing the joint longest disqualification in the history of the state.
